HASSRA Leeds – Tabletop Wargames Club
The Tabletop Wargames Club is a small friendly club with about
half a dozen or so regular wargamers who participate
in tabletop wargaming. We play regular games on the
second Monday of each month, usually in Quarry House, Leeds.
Beginners, please don’t be put off as everyone
is willing to offer advice and later in the year (W/C 13/7) we will be holding
our 1st annual “have-a-go-day” for new members, returning wargamers and those who just want to “have a go”.
At our regular meetings and at the “have-a-go-day”, we
can provide everything you need to get involved and you can receive coaching
from members of the club so that you can quickly pick up the basics and show
the regulars a thing or too.
This is our inaugural year, so we are pretty new to
the club scene. We currently play mostly
sci-fi or fantasy genre, but are expanding to cover historical battles as part
of our ongoing development.
We are keen to widen our membership to include some
new players. Later in the year we intend to run some tournaments, with a ‘modest’
trophy for the winners and who knows we may even extend ourselves out into the wargaming community and challenge a few clubs to a
competition or two.
This year, we also plan to attend a number of
conventions including Games Day (Games Workshop’s annual wargaming
event – held at Birmingham NEC for the last few years - which sees thousands of
attendee’s), Fiasco (held in November at the Royal Armouries in Leeds) and a
number of other events across the wargaming calendar.
Even though we enjoy pitting ourselves against each
other across a battlefield, it’s really all very good natured with plenty of
humour, so if you’re a novice, someone coming back to wargaming
or just want to come along for a nosey, go on and get in touch.
New members are always welcome – please
contact Stuart Wiltshire (27251) or Martin Brown (24183) in Quarry House for
further details.
New members of all skill levels welcome – just get in touch.
